A STAR of a popular BBC show is to host a charity event at a Langbank resort next month.

Gary Hollywood, known for his role as Dino Doyle in Mrs Brown’s Boys, will host an exclusive big band brunch at Gleddoch Golf and Spa Resort on January 14.

The event will raise funds for the DreamMaker Foundation – a charity which helps make the wishes of sick children come true.

Those who attend will enjoy a two-course brunch, as well as an afternoon’s entertainment with music provided by the Michael Brawley Big Band.

Gary said: "It's the perfect antidote to Christmas - indeed, the perfect Christmas present to look forward to in January.

"It's wonderful to be raising money for such a good cause. I've been a supporter of the DreamMaker Foundation for many years.

"The charity helps children with life-threatening illnesses meet their idols and also enjoy special days out with their families.

“The event is sure to be special. Tickets are going fast.”

DreamMaker Foundation manager Angela Cook added: “It’s our first time at Gleddoch, which is such a prestigious venue, and our first ever big band event.

"We’re looking forward to a fabulous day.”

There will be a raffle on the day, with prizes including a stay at the luxury Langbank hotel up for grabs.

Resort manager James Anderson said: “We’re delighted to be hosting this lunch.

“The Michael Brawley Big Band will be treating diners to an unbelievable two sets, and you have a chance to support this wonderful Scottish charity for children with life-threatening illness through donations on the day and a raffle.”

Tickets cost £25 and are available at www.gleddoch.com or by calling 01475 540711.
