Mrs Brown's Boys stars Danny and Fiona O'Carroll have posed with their brother Eric and mum Doreen Dowdall for a sweet family picture.

While Danny and Fiona are in the spotlight thanks to their roles as Buster Brady and Maria O'Carroll in the smash hit RTE comedy, their brother Eric stays behind the scenes and works as a director.

Their mum Doreen split from dad Brendan, who is now married to Jennifer Gibney, back in 1999.

On Saturday, the three siblings and their mum met up for some quality family time in the lead-up to Christmas.

Sharing a picture of the four of them enjoying the afternoon together, Danny wrote on Instagram: "Christmas time with our Mammy," alongside a loveheart emoji.

Fiona re-shared the picture on her own account with the caption "Family is everything".

Earlier this year, Mrs Brown's Boys creator Brendan revealed Fiona wouldn't speak to him when he started a new relationship with now wife Jennifer following his split from Doreen.

"I think Fiona was hurt not because she thought I loved Jenny more than I loved her mother, but that I might love Jenny more than I loved her," he told The Sun.

The father and daughter duo eventually reconciled, but last year Fiona spoke candidly about how hurt she was after her parents split up.

The actress split from husband and Mrs Brown's Boys co-star Martin Delany in 2018 but tried to hang on because she didn't want her sons Felix, Eli, Isaac and Dexter, coming from a broken marriage.

Fiona said: "I think I hung on for as long as I did because when my own parents broke up, that was very public, and there was a lot of hurt involved there.

"For me, as a child, coming from a broken marriage, I didn’t want that for my kids."

She added to the RTE Guide: "But having said that, my parents are extremely happy now so sometimes you have to go through hard times to get to happier times and as much as I tried my best to make it work, we tried for years and it just got to that point where we both decided, or I decided, it was time.

"I felt that I needed to be a role model for my kids and as much as they weren’t happy about us splitting up, they are OK actually, because with myself and Martin, our main focus is the kids and we didn’t actually tell the kids until we were almost a year separated."
