Eilish O’Carroll will mark a major birthday this year as she turns 70 years old in November.

The actress shared that she’s “awful” at remembering birthdays, including not only her own but also her son’s.

She explained that after getting successful later in life, retirement isn’t in the cards for her.

Eilish told RSVP Live: “I turned 70 in November or maybe it’s this year, I might not be 70 yet. I’m really looking forward to my 70 birthday. I don’t believe I’m 70. I’m going there screaming.

“I’m absolutely awful at keeping track of birthdays and it can be horrible. I remember one year forgetting my son’s birthday. How can a mother do that?

“I remember because he’s born on the 15th of June. I think we were on tour at the time so all the dates go out of your head when you’re on the road.”

t was two days later when the Mrs Brown’s Boys star realised the significance of the date after looking at her diary.

“I thought, ‘Oh my God, I forgot his birthday.’ I nearly was tempted to send a text saying, ‘I hope you got my birthday wishes’.

“I didn’t. In the end, I phoned him up and said, ‘I am so sorry. The dates didn’t registered with me’.

“He just laughed, which was lovely.”

In an effort to help her remember important dates, Eilish bought a diary specifically for birthdays before Christmas.

However, she admitted that the diary is still empty saying she is “dreadful”.

While the age of retirement might be 66 years old in Ireland, Eilish says she has no plans to stop working.

“Because success hit for me much later in life, I don’t even consider retiring. Why would I retire?

“I’m lucky because I’m in an industry that you don’t have to. Okay, I’m not going to get the parts of a leading lady and the romantic part, but I do love what I do.

“I hope to keep doing it as long as I can act and still make sense.”
