Mrs Brown's Boys star Fiona O'Carroll, who plays Maria Brown on the hit show, is joining the cast of Copper Face Jacks: The Musical.

The mega popular live show returns this summer to Dublin's 3Olympia Theatre for a third time due to demand.

Fiona is the daughter of Mrs Brown's Boys star and creator Brendan O'Carroll and has acted alongside her father and other family members on the show since its debut in 2011.

The 41-year-old actress joins the popular stage show as Gretchen Akerman. Her castmates include Johnny Ward who returns as Gino Wildes, Stephen O'Leary (Fair City) as Mossy Munnix with Rachel O'Connell (Young Offenders), Daithi O'Donnell (Ros na Rún), Shane Fallon, Kelly Marie Ni Cheallaigh and Sarah Gordon.

Copper Face Jacks: The Musical is a love story set on the eve of a Dublin v Kerry All Ireland Final. Audiences see a young Kerry girl who falls "head over her flat-shoes" for the captain of the Dublin team, Gino.

Naturally, the two face cultural and linguistic challenges in their relationship, bringing the audience on a hilarious journey to a hopeful happily ever after.

The show had hugely successful summer runs in 2018 and 2019 and was due to take place again in June 2020 but was rescheduled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Copper Face Jacks: The Musical now takes place at Dublin's 3Olympia Theatre from August 2 to 20. Original tickets and seat selections remain valid for the rescheduled dates.

The show will also run at UCH Limerick from July 26 to 30 and Cork Opera House from August 23 to 28.
