Mrs Brown's Boys star Eilish O'Carroll has addressed rumours that the hit sitcom will return for a full series.

Earlier this year it was reported that the TV show is set to make a major comeback with brand new episodes following the hilarious antics of Agnes and Brown and her family in Dublin.

Every Christmas RTE and BBC air two festive specials, which always top the TV ratings, but there hasn't been a full series of Mrs Brown's Boys since 2013.

Speaking about the future of the ever popular comedy, Eilish admitted there have been talks of filming brand new episodes on top of the usual Christmas specials - but stressed that nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

She told Ireland AM : "That's confirmed, there's going to be a Mrs Brown's Christmas special and there might be, one doesn't know...

"There's mumblings of another four episodes of Mrs Brown's Boys itself but it hasn't been confirmed yet.

"Again if it happens I'll get very excited about it and if it doesn't happen I won't be upset."

In the meantime, fans can get their fix of Mrs Brown's Boys later this summer when the cast embark on a live tour.

"The tour is back starting on the 6th of June," Eilish, who plays the loveable Winnie McGoogan, added.

"We have a six week intensive tour but I am looking forward to it.

"It'll be nice to put the rollers back in and my scarf on my head!"

Eilish works with brother Brendan and many other family members, such as Danny and Fiona O'Carroll on Mrs Brown's Boys and previously told us how much it means to her that she gets to work so closely with her loved ones.

She told RSVP Live: "We're not the Little House on the Prairie don’t get me wrong, we have our issues like any other family. But the beauty of family is that you can have a fallout, it’s not for life, and the next day you can turn up for work and it’s over and done with.

"We travel so much when we are working, and having Brendan's children with us it feels like they are my kids now too. We have a great relationship.

"I recommend working with family. Number one- you can trust them, they might say horrible things about you but you know deep down that they love you.

"I think that’s terribly reassuring, that we really do love each other and we have great fun. I am very lucky."
