'Agnes Brown from Mrs Brown's Boys' in Helston Wetherspoons

Packet reporter Kate Lockett meets ‘Mrs Brown’, aka Steve Crowhurst

HELSTON had a surprise visitor on Friday evening, in the form of a popular TV character – but all was not what it seemed.

Agnes Brown, from Mrs Brown's Boys, appeared to be at The Coinage Hall, Wetherspoons and again in The Beehive Bar in the town.

With her famous brown perm and glasses, she looked like the real deal.

However, on closer inspection it turned out to not be the 'real' Mrs Brown (aka actor Brendan O'Carroll) but in fact Steve Crowhurst, who was in fact a lookalike.

Steve, along with Steve Brown, and son Blake were fundraising for The Motor Neurone Disease Association.

It wasn't the first time Steve had taken to the pubs of Helston to raise money for charities, still as Mrs Brown, but this was the first time to raise money for an Alzheimer's charity.

Steve's wife Alison said: "The people of Helston, have been so supportive," adding that the trio managed to raise £200 for the charity.

Alison and Steve are planning on more charity fundraising events in Helston over the next few months.
