BRENDAN O'Carrol's alter-ego Mrs Brown is set to star in the new Netflix blockbuster A Madea Homecoming.

The Irish actor, 66, will reprise his role as the stall owner in the upcoming American comedy film.

Tyler Perry will also be playing the iconic character of Mabel "Madea" Earlene Simmons, who has been around since the late 90s.

He will be joined by Brendan, who is best known for creating the popular sitcom, which premiered back in 2002.

Not much is known about what what Mrs Brown will get up to, but the film will follow an "LGBTQ+ storyline".

The synopsis reads: "Madea prepares to welcome her family who have all come into town to celebrate her great-grandson's graduation from college, when some hidden secrets threaten to destroy the joyous family homecoming."

Award-winning actor Tyler, 52 - who has written and directed the film - was last on our screens as Madea in Madea’s Family Funeral two years ago.

The character first shot to fame in 1999 and is based on his own mother and aunt.

She's appeared in a number of blockbusters over the years that try to highlight serious issues with an element of comedy.

Brendan will be joined by Mrs Brown's Boys co-star Jennifer Gibney in the film.

The Irish actress has played Agnes' daughter Cathy on the show since 2011, but also starred in Mrs. Brown's Boys The Original Series between 2002 and 2008.

Other cast include Cassi Davis, David Mann, Tamela J. Mann and Geneva Maccarone.

Gabrielle Dennis, Brandon Black and Candace Maxwell complete the star-studded line-up.
