Irish people left confused as Mrs Brown appears in trailer for hotly-anticipated Netflix film

O'Carroll's wife Jennifer Gibney will also feature as Cathy Brown

The crossover event of the century...

It's always nice to see Irish artists finding success overseas.

Whether it's Paul Mescal's rise to superstardom following the release of Normal People, or Domhnall Gleeson being added to the Star Wars canon, we can be always be proud of Ireland's contributions to the world.

Well, almost always.

You may, understandably, have many questions following that image.

Well, Mrs Brown has made her way stateside, and stars in Tyler Perry's A Madea Homecoming, arriving on Netflix at the end of February.

For those unaware, Madea is something of a Mrs Brown-style character herself, featuring in countless films, plays, and even a book across the past 23 years.

Tyler Perry debuted the character in I Can Do Bad All By Myself, and she has since become an unstoppable media machine.

Brendan O'Carroll, of course, has built something of an empire of his own since the debut of Mrs Brown's Boys 30(!) years ago.

This film won't be Mrs Brown's first appearance on the big screen, having already starred in Mrs Brown's Boys: D'Movie, which sits at a whopping 6% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Despite the critical panning, the film did quite well in Ireland and the UK, and another film is rumored to be on the way.

And the annual Mrs Brown's Boys Christmas special continues to be one of the top viewed programmes of the year, so it was only a matter of time before she would start appearing in the most unexpected of places.

So until Christmas rolls around again, if you're looking for (or trying to avoid) Mrs Brown, you'll find her in Tyler Perry's A Madea Homecoming.

Here's the synopsis from Netflix:

Madea prepares to welcome her family who have all come into town to celebrate her Great-Grandson’s graduation from college, when some hidden secrets threaten to destroy the joyous family homecoming.
