Brendan O'Carroll has been entertaining the nation as Agnes Brown, the mother at the heart of the Brown family, since 2011. But while he is a familiar face to many for his on-screen drag persona, what is known of his marriage with co-star Jennifer Gibney?

How long have Brendan and Jennifer been married?

Brendan and wife Jennifer who plays his on-screen daughter Cathy Brown have been married 15 years.

The pair tied the knot back in 2005 after meeting on the sitcom The Course.

Brendan has previously opened up to RTE Guide on how they first met when he said the pair became friends while working alongside each other.

He said: "One morning I came down into the breakfast room and I spotted that Jenny was doing the Irish Times crossword.

"On the way out, I stopped and asked her whether she was doing the Simplex or the Crosaire. 'The Crosaire', she said.

"Now she was also smoking Consulate. The last person I saw smoking Consulate, drinking coffee and doing the Crosaire was my mother.

"I sat down with her and we finished the crossword.

"The next morning, she left a photocopy of the crossword at my table."

Brendan went on to recall the moment he knew he wanted to marry Jennifer.

He said: "It was about 5am and I had been writing all night... I sat on the bed, watching a bit of telly.

"I wasn't tired. Jenny was asleep in the bed beside me. I looked at her and thought: 'God what would I do if she wasn't there tomorrow?'

"I knew I wouldn't like that. So I asked her to marry me."

Talking to Express.co.uk back in April, Brendan spoke of the advice both he and Jennifer were given by Jennifer's late father.

He said: "Jenny's parents had a great [marriage]… the secret to their marriage is… they were married for over 60 years.

"The secret her dad passed on to us was that, 'There's three people in this marriage, there's you, me and us'.

"'And you must allow equal time for all three or it doesn't work and that works for us.

"We're lucky that, Jenny and I were friends before we became lovers and even though we're married now, we are still best mates."
