Mrs Brown’s Boys star Gary Hollywood praises NHS staff after arrival of baby son Ollie

Proud mum and dad, Cherylanne and Gary, with Oliver

Mrs Brown’s Boys star Gary Hollywood has heaped praise on NHS staff following the safe birth of his son.

Arriving a month premature, baby Oliver Michael Hollywood remained in hospital in Glasgow as he battled jaundice and doctors sought to get his body temperature to the correct level.

But he is now home and doing well and proud dad Gary, 40, along with mum Cherylanne, 30, thanked everyone at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for their outstanding care.

Actor Gary said: “How can we ever thank our marvellous NHS for all they do for us, especially as we see how hard they are working to keep us all safe from Covid-19?

“I’ll never forget how wonderful they have been. It was terrifying going into labour a month early, especially in the middle of the virus crisis, but they were just so professional and caring.”

Actor Gary and his wife married last year after bringing family and friends together to celebrate Cherylanne’s 30th birthday, then springing a surprise on guests by exchanging their wedding vows. They are now back home in Scotland for the foreseeable future.

Baby Oliver weighed 5lbs 13oz when he was born on March 12. Gary said: “We’ve now got him home, and he’s bright as a button.

“Like everyone else, we’re extremely worried about the virus sweeping the world so we’re self-isolating and keeping Ollie safe. It’s frustrating we can’t take him to see our family, but we’re not taking any chances and hope everyone else does the same.

“It is wonderful to be able to share some happy news while everyone is going through such a worrying time, and what better message of hope that we can get through this than a new baby taking its first look at the world.”
