Mrs. Brown's Boys' Dermot actor Paddy Houlihan shares family snap with wife Emily and daughters

He is a big family man in real life

Mrs. Brown's Boys star Paddy Houlihan is a big family man away from the hit comedy show.

The Dubliner is married to Emily Regar and they regular step out for movie premieres and red carpet events together. They also, of course, work together on set.

The couple are also parents to adorable twin daughters, Bonnie and Darcy.

Sharing a picture alongside Emily, Paddy, who plays the character of Dermot Brown on Mrs Brown's Boys said: "Go on the Irish! And yes I’m punching alongside my wife."

Emily also thanked Paddy for his incredible generosity and kindness on Valentines Day earlier this year.

Captioning the picture, she said: "My amazing hubby did good today.

"Red roses for his daughters and white ones for the aul ball and chain."

Recalling the moment he found out he was having twins, Paddy told the Irish Examiner: "When we went in and did the scan, they said ‘There’s the little heart’, and, of course, the two of us were bawling. He moved the little sonar thing and he said: ‘Oh’ and I said: “What does ‘Oh’ mean”?

“He said, ‘Well, there’s another one in there’ and it was just like ‘Oh My God!’ We know how lucky we are. One child would have been a blessing, but two of them..."

On the BBC and RTE, the character of Dermot is always a major cause of worry for Agnes and the rest of the Brown family.

He is married to Maria Nicholson and best pals with Buster Brady who is played by Danny O'Carroll, son of show creator Brendan O'Carroll.

On the show, Dermot works as a walking advertisement for various companies, so can often be found wearing an odd costume while delivering his lines.

Brendan O'Carroll was left shocked by the deaths of Gay Byrne and Brendan Grace recently.

He told RSVP Magazine: "We have been texting but I haven’t had a chance to meet Kathleen or Crona [Gay’s wife and daughter] yet.

"I must tell you a funny one, Brendan would appreciate this, I was walking through the homes exhibition in the RDS after hearing that Frank Sinatra had died. I passed Brendan and I said, 'What about Frank Sinatra dying' and he replied to say, 'Well, it opens the business up for somebody else.'"
