Mrs Brown's Boys creator Brendan O'Carroll lets Christmas special secret slip on This Morning

ALL THE TV CHRISTMAS SPECIALS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT

Mrs Brown's Boys creator Brendan O’Carroll slipped up on This Morning over the show's Christmas specials this week - much to fans' delight.

The Dubliner surprised hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on the ITV programme by announcing that a second special, Orange Is The New Mammy, will air on New Year's Day.

But he later admitted he wasn't supposed to have shared the news, RSVP Live reports.

Speaking to Phil, Brendan confirmed that there would once again be a second festive episode, saying: "Yeah, one on Christmas Day and one on New Year's Day."

But Phil quickly jumped in and said: "Only you weren't supposed to say that - I think that was going to be released this afternoon."

Brendan replied "it's a secret," much to Holly and Phil's amusement.

A total of 4.7 million viewers watched the Irish sitcom on BBC One last year.

Last month Brendan hinted that this year's Christmas instalment of Mrs Brown’s Boys will be the best one yet.

He told RSVP: "The Christmas Day one is called It’s A Wonderful Mammy and Agnes is in Foley’s after having a row with Winnie, Cathy and her daughter in law and she is fed up with them all."

The show's creator added: "She says to herself 'do you ever wish you weren’t here?' and an angel appears beside her in the form of Kevin Kennedy and he helps her with that and shows her what life would be like if she wasn’t there.

"If you have seen It’s A Wonderful Life, you will know that everybody’s life is devastated. Well, everyone’s life is bloody fantastic without her."
