Most viewers will watch Mrs Brown's Boys on Christmas day, say bookies

"Our betting suggests it will once again be the most watched programme on the big day."

Mrs Brown's Boys has been tipped to be the most watched programme on Christmas Day.

The BBC comedy, starring Brendan O'Carroll as a Dublin matriarch who interferes in the lives of her friends and family members, looks set to trump the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special and the seasonal episode of Call The Midwife in the overnight ratings.

Bookmaker Coral is offering odds of 6-4 that Mrs Brown's Boys will be the most watched programme, with Gavin And Stacey and Call The Midwife both at 3-1.

Meanwhile Strictly Come Dancing is at 5-1, EastEnders is at 6-1, the BBC broadcast of the Queen's Speech is at 6-1 and Coronation Street is at 10-1.

The Christmas Day episode of Top Of The Pops is at 25-1.

John Hill of Coral said: "Mrs Brown's Boys has dominated the Christmas Day TV ratings over the last few years and our betting suggests it will once again be the most watched programme on the big day."

Michael McIntyre's Big Christmas Show, on BBC One, was the surprise hit of Christmas Day last year, racking up 6.1 million viewers in the overnight ratings.
