A notice on RIP.ie reads: “Peacefully while surrounded by her loving family in the care of the wonderful staff at St. Vincent’s University Hospital.

“Sadly missed by her children Rory, Gerard and Maebh, grandchildren Cian, Eoin, Óran and Evan, extended family and a wide circle of friends.”

Her funeral will take place this morning in the Church of the Ascension of the Lord, Balally.

Esther – who suffered from dementia – will be laid to rest at Mount Venus Cemetery.

After leaving the show last year, Rory hailed Brendan O’Carroll for paying him so well he could look after his beloved mum.

Rory, 58, told the Irish Sun at the time: “It’s great mum is still in her own house but she needs three carers every day.

“The first comes in at 8am in the morning and the last one leaves at 9pm that night after she goes asleep.”
