Look out, Mrs Brown! It appears that the character might be in danger if the show’s creator has anything to do with it.
Brendan O’Carroll, who plays and writes the mischievous granny, has said that he hopes the show will ‘break your heart’ when fans say goodbye to Agnes on her death bed. Speaking to the Daily Star, he said: ‘We are booked to do Christmas specials for the BBC until 2020 but if they go, “We are going to drop you as we don’t think it’s strong enough” then I’d kill Agnes off. ‘Our final episode would be the funniest show I’ve ever written for the first 24 minutes,’ he announced. ‘Then the last four minutes would break your fucking heart.’

But fans of the much-loved show can rest easy knowing that Mrs Brown’s potential demise is a long while away yet. On top of the Christmas specials, the team have also launched their own chat show based in Agnes’ living room, All Round To Mrs Brown’s. Mrs Brown, played by a dragged up Brendan, will be joined by daughter Cathy (Brendon’s real life wife Jennifer), as celebrity guests and their mams each week.
In the first episode of the returning series, airing this Saturday, Amir Khan and Danny Dyer will be put through their paces in the hands of the cheeky Irish OAP. Despite not being well-received critically, Mrs Brown’s Boys has peaked at a staggering 9 million viewers in the last series. A survey revealed 75% of the audience were over the age of 45, and a large majority of them also voted for Brexit.
