Fans of Mrs Brown's Boys have been subject to unwanted attention by online fraudsters claiming to be prominent members of the cast asking them to buy show merchandise.
The scammers are approaching fans directly on social media with requests to make purchases in order for them to "win free gifts".
However, the company behind the show's production have come out to set the record straight for fans who may fall foul of the cruel practice.
They reassured fans that they will never contact them directly about anything related to the show and are urging vigilance and to delete any such messages received.
A spokesperson said: "Hi everybody, it has come to our attention that a number of fans are being contacted by people pretending to be our cast members such as Danny O'Carroll & Brendan O'Carroll via dm's on social media platforms etc looking for you to purchase merchandise and win a free gift etc. we never have or will contact anyone directly and this is a scam so please ignore and delete any requests you get. Thank you you for taking the time to read this and stay safe, that's nice."
Mrs Brown's Boys is set to go on tour across Ireland later this year. The Musical for Moore Street will begin in Derry in November before finishing up in Dublin's 3Arena in the days before Christmas in December.
