Fiona O'Carroll's son Isaac feared she was going to die during Ultimate Hell Week: The Professionals.

The brand new series of the gruelling RTE show aired on Wednesday night, which sees twenty well-known put through their paces through a strenuous special forces selection.

Mrs Brown's Boys actress Fiona is one of the names taking part, and while she is up for the challenge, the same cannot be said for her children.

Fiona shares sons Felix, Eli, Isaac and Dexter with ex-husband Martin Delany - and it was middle child Isaac who was most scared for his mum.

"My seven-year-old Isaac got very worried," she admitted on last night's show.

"He was like, 'But you're gonna die!' I was like, 'I'm not gonna die, I promise you, they're not allowed to kill me'.

"[He said] 'But you might get hurt'. I'm like, 'Yeah, I might'."

The first episode of the series did not come without its drama, as jockey Oisin Murphy got in trouble with the DS's on more than one occasion.

Viewers also saw the first exit of the series, as broadcaster and drag queen Paul Ryder decided to leave.

The Ireland AM star was paired up with runner Michael McKillop as they were told to enter a room full of gas in order to retrieve three items, but Paul dropped out.

Explaining his decision, Paul said: "Something in me said 'You can't do this, you can't do this' because I think I would have fallen to pieces. I felt upset and I felt like I was letting myself down.

"I came here for a reason. This was my chance at regaining some sort of 'In with the lads'. I don't need that in my life.

"I know I didn't get nearly as far as I wanted to."
He continued: "I made 19 new friends and 15 of them are big, massive straight lads and we had a laugh and a joke. I can walk away from the experience feeling good about the journey I have been on.

"Someone has got to be first, I am just glad it was somebody as glamorous as me."
