Mrs Brown's Boys star Eilish O'Carroll is 'beyond excited' to reunite with her son after two years

Eilish, famed for her role as Winnie McGoogan on Mrs Brown's Boys, is excited to put her feet up and reunite with her son once her nationwide tour of Live, Love, Laugh comes to an end

Eilish O'Carroll is excited to reunite with her son later this month after spending nearly two years apart.

The Mrs Brown's Boys star is looking forward to a relaxing break in the run-up to Christmas when she finishes her nationwide tour of her one woman show Live, Love, Laugh.

Eilish is mum to two adult sons from her previous marriage, before she came out as gay.

Because both of her children live in the UK, travel restrictions during the course of the pandemic meant they haven't been able to meet up.

However, later this month she will be reunited with her eldest child, which will be a very welcome visit as Eilish has the rest of the year off once she finishes her tour.

"I’m just going to literally chill. I’m really looking forward to it," she told RSVP Live.

"My son and his partner are coming over to visit in December and I’m beyond excited because I haven’t seen him in nearly two years so I just can't wait to see him.

"I’ve promised myself that I’m doing whatever I want to do during my time off.

"I’m giving myself permission to put my feet up and enjoy my free time."

Family is of the utmost importance to Eilish, and being separated from them was something she struggled with during lockdown.

She said: "It was really tough the first year because I couldn’t see my own sons and grandchildren as they live in the UK.

"The one thing I’ve missed more than anything - and maybe it’s because of my age - social media is a wonderful thing, but it’s not the same as having someone sit in the same room as you and have a cuddle and embrace somebody."

Thankfully for Eilish, she was able to reunite with some of her family and co-stars when work resumed on Mrs Brown's Boys.

"We haven't made any hard and fast plans as of yet because we’ve been so busy with the show," she explained.

"My brother Michael has invited us over for Christmas dinner, were were thinking of going to the UK to see my sons but I don't know if that will happen because of the climate with Covid.

"We've also thought about going to the sun, so we've talked about a lot of stuff and we haven’t made any plans."

What the couple do know is that Christmas will definitely be spent together, following their decision to live apart from each other during the first lockdown.

Eilish said: "Whether it will be in Cork, Dublin or the UK, we will be spending Christmas together, that's for certain.

"It’s like Christmas isn’t even happening in a way because of Covid - do you make plans, do you stay where you are?

"If we do stay where we are we will make the most of it and have great fun, and have family over, and we will go visit and family as well, providing we’re allowed to."
