The veteran comic is pulling out all the stops for St Vincent de Paul

Mrs Brown’s Boys creator Brendan O’Carroll has opened up about what viewers can expect from his eagerly anticipated Christmas and New Year shows.
The comedy consistently tops the Christmas ratings on RTE and is regular in the top five on British TV.
“For Christmas Day it’s all about the shortage of Christmas trees. Looks like Agnes will not have a tree, but up steps Buster Brady,” Brendan told the Sunday World.
“Agnes has joined the church choir but there’s a catch – Fr McBride has made it clear there’s to be no singing and no dancing.
“There’s also a murder mystery in Foley’s in aid of alcoholic greyhounds!”
Brendan added: “For the New Year’s edition, we see the family struggling to grasp the concept of reconciliation and fresh starts of the New Year.”
“We will also see Granddad’s brother Mickey getting out of prison, looking for €5,000 to invest in a gold mine.”
“Winnie is also on a mission to change the path her life is on.”
Meanwhile, big hearted Brendan O’Carroll is pulling out all the stops for St Vincent de Paul after his Mrs Brown’s Boys show in aid of the charity was cancelled due to Covid.
The comedian annually puts on one of his Yuletide shows in Dublin’s 3 Arena in aid of the charity and in recent years have provided 2750 families with Christmas dinners.
“It’s a charity close to my heart and I’ll be on the Late Late on the 17th which is a Vincent De Paul special,” Brendan said.
“We will also be doing our Christmas Dinners with them this year.”
He also reveals they will be doing a ‘Pop-Up Shop’ this year.
Details have still to be confirmed about the store but we understand it will be located in Dublin’s Grafton Street and will be a tie-in with East Coast bakery, who will sell a gift box of Mrs Brown’s Boys cookies at E20 a pop in aid of St Vincent de Paul.
The 66-year-old admits he’s devastated his tour has been cancelled for a second year in a row, which usually includes a string of sell out shows in Dublin and Belfast.
“It’s been disappointing for the last two years with the cancellation twice of the UK/Ireland tour. And the Australian tour this January.
“But we are back in 2022 June July and August in the UK and hopefully Dublin and Belfast in December.”
He and his wife Jennifer Gibney are based in Florida but are planning to come home in the coming days, including to launch the ‘Pop-Up’ shop on Friday.
“We couldn’t have Christmas without our families,” he exclaims.
Brendan is also currently working on a TV series set in an Irish army base in the Lebanon.
“It’s about the Irish troops serving in the Lebanon in the ’80s/’90s The two main stars will be Danny and Paddy, (Buster/Dermot).”
