Mrs Brown's Boys viewers were left gobsmacked when little Bono Brown appeared in the Halloween special - and wasn't so little anymore.

Bono Brown is the only son of Mark and Betty and first grandchild to Agnes in the sitcom, and is portrayed by O'Carroll's real-life grandson Jamie O'Carroll.

He stars in the special episode to celebrate 10 years of the show with parents Amanda Woods (Betty Brown) and Danny O'Carroll (Buster Brady) and has only appeared sporadically through the many BBC series and special episodes.

In the 2018 New Year special CSI: Mammy, it was revealed that Bono is 12 years old.

But three years on and viewers hardly recognised him as he returned to BBC One on Friday night (October 29).

Viewers couldn't believe how different the child star now looked and they turned to Twitter to comment.

Liam Braisdell wrote: "The size of Bono man #MrsBrownsBoys"

Daniel McLeod said: "What the f*** has happened Bono! #MrsBrownsBoys"

Andy Gibson added: "F*** me! Bono has grown! #MrsBrownsBoys"

And Greeny said: "Are we not going to talk about that Bono is a f****** giant now?! #mrsbrownsboys"

The cast of Mrs Brown’s Boys have recently paid tribute following a tragic death on the show.

A creative who worked on the hit BBC sitcom passed away after contracting coronavirus last month.

Dennis Knotts worked as a props master on the show and worked with some of the crew for more than 40 years.
