Agnes Brown in the latest Christmas Special
Brendan O'Carroll has been praised for one touching scene in this year's divisive Mrs Browns Boys Christmas special.
The show, which aired on BBC on Friday night, as always divided opinion with many labelling the show as "rubbish".
But plenty of others were delighted with the episode and flooded the cast and crew with praise for the spectacle.
The ending speech from Mrs Brown herself was applauded by many, with one fan saying: "Know everyone has their thoughts on #MrsBrownsBoys, but I loved this little closing speech about the power of TV and comedy this year."
In the scene, Brendan O'Carroll's character said: "And television, where would we have been without the TV.
"You know, we were all determined to make the show this year, nothing would stop us, because in the middle of all the chaos and hurly-burly that's come at us, this year we need a...a laugh."
Mrs Brown continued: "Some rediscovered the importance of family this year.
"It's been tough. Some days instead of going forward, it felt like we were swimming through porridge.
"Thank god for comedy", the TV star added.
Dozens of fans praised the show for cheering them up on what was an abnormal Christmas Day for many.
One said: "Absolutely brilliant yet again!!! I love watching Mrs Brown Boys every single year. Gutted the family missed the live show last year because of a fire at the house. I can’t wait for New Year’s Day now ."
Another added: "Great show.. everyone needs comedy now and again. Great speech at the end."
"Best programme this Christmas, the respect shown to key workers at the end following the laughs was very moving," another said.
