NO FECKING WAY Mrs Brown’s Boys creator Brendan O’Carroll rules out ‘woke’ series despite his grandson’s fears for the planet

THE BBC may be increasingly woke – but you will not see Mrs Brown’s Boys jumping on the bandwagon.

Brendan O’Carroll, who writes and stars in the BBC1 sitcom as the formidable Irish mammy, has told how he slapped down his ten-year-old grandson and co-star Jamie O’Carroll when he pleaded with him to use the show to raise concern about the planet.

In an exclusive interview, Brendan said: “He cornered me in my dressing room and said ‘Grandad, I need to talk to you about the environment and how your generation are not doing enough.

“I wrote it in a script where somebody said to Mrs Brown, ‘Your generation has f***** up this planet’.

“But it never made an episode, as I thought, ‘No, it’s too serious’.”

Brendan also has issues with Jamie’s eco-claims.

The veteran actor believes his generation did more for the planet than his children’s generation, who are now in their thirties and forties.

He explains: “Our generation were doing it right, it’s the disposable generation who are ruining the planet.

“Everything is disposable now, even furniture.

“We had a couch all our lives, they change their couch now like they change their wallpaper.
