Rory Cowan denies he is leaving Fair City this Christmas

The much loved TV star said that he will remain on the soap opera into the New Year as his storyline continues on screen.

Hitting back at claims that he was saying goodbye to the show, he said: "I won’t be gone by Christmas.

"I’ll be in Carrigstown for a while yet.....I’m delighted to say.

"I’m loving my time on Fair City ."

Rory, who previously starred on Mrs Browns Boys , joined the RTE soap back in September as the character of John Bosco.

Since hitting screens in this role earlier this year, he has been part of a very emotional dementia storyline.

Rory previously told VIP Magazine: “John Bosco was a role I was never going to turn down."

“It was very close to my real life over the last five years."

At the time, he went on to say: “I don’t know how long I’ll be in Carrigstown, but I’ll hang around for as long as possible!

“If the story line comes to a conclusion then I’ll no doubt be going. But it’s a nice gig to get."
