BRENDAN O’CARROLL’S wife Jennifer Gibney spoke out about being “careful” while working with her “mischievous” husband on the set of Mrs Brown’s Boys.
Jennifer Gibney, 54, who plays Cathy Brown on Mrs Brown’s Boys, revealed she “struggles” to keep a straight face when she acts opposite her husband Brendan O’Carroll, 63, on the BBC show. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, the actress admitted her other half knows exactly how to get her giggling on set. She said: “He is very mischievous and makes everybody laugh. “I have to be particularly careful because some people can laugh and get on with the scene.”
The star added: “If I start to laugh it could be five minutes before I recover.
“So I have to try really hard but obviously because he’s my husband he knows how to get me and he usually gets me with physical gestures.”
Jennifer went on to explain Brendan’s cheeky tricks, as she continued: “He’ll start to imitate everything I do, so if I flick my hair he flicks his hair.
“He does everything that I do and that makes me extremely giddy so he knows how to get me.
“I struggle really hard not to let go because if I do the show stops for five minutes. You just have to keep your wits about you.”
The BBC favourite also opened up about how she reacted to Brendan when he donned his costume to play Irish mammy Agnes Brown for the first time.

Reflecting on the “weird moment”, she recalled: “It was to the wire before we went up so we did a dress rehearsal.
“But he kind of just did a hybrid which I can’t stand to see when he has the gear on but not the makeup on with the wig, so it’s a bit weird.”
Fortunately, Jennifer was able to get over her initial shock when she began to see Mrs Brown as a “complete character in her own right”.
She explained: “So, I didn’t see him as Mrs Brown until he came downstairs at the start of the show so I looked up the stairs and saw him there as Mrs Brown, but there’s something about him being Mrs Brown and it’s not Brendan.
“She’s a complete character in her own right and although I said, ‘Oh god I wasn’t expecting that,’ when I saw her coming out at the top of the stairs, half of that you just accept.
“It’s part of the magic of the show because people buy into the fact that he’s our mother and obviously he looks nothing like Mrs Brown off stage.”
Outside her role on the comedy series, Jennifer enjoys playing golf with her husband and is set to take part in the Celebrity Cup at Celtic Manor Resort this weekend.
Speaking about the challenge, the TV personality revealed she has been practicing the sport at home in Florida with Brendan.
She explained: “We live in Florida and we played quite a bit there because we live right by a golf course so we had a lovely few weeks of being able to practice.
"We’re going to wait until we get to Celtic Manor now and do a practice round and hope for the best.”
The Celebrity Cup is taking place at Celtic Manor on July 13-14.
