Lorraine Kelly shows off acting talents on All Round To Mrs Brown’s after winning tax case

Lorraine Kelly put her acting skills to the test on All Round To Mrs Brown’s – and got more than she bargained for as she ran into Buster and Dermot.

The cheeky daytime telly presenter was greeted at her hotel by the hapless pair and soon found herself in trouble when they couldn’t find her booking.

When she was finally given a suite (not the sweets Buster offered), things got even more complicated when she discovered Brendan O’Carroll in a towel.

Bit of a shock to the system by anyone’s account!

Her time on the show was filmed just before she won a £1.2million tax case where she claimed she was just playing the role of the happy-go-lucky TV presenter while on screen.

Kelly had been hit with a £1.2million tax and national insurance bill from HMRC amid a crackdown by the revenue which argued TV presenters are employees of broadcasters, and should be subject to income tax and national insurance contributions.

However, after a tribunal, Lorraine walked away the winner on 20 March, and Judge Jennifer Dean explained she felt she had dealt with the issue appropriately.

‘We did not accept that Ms Kelly simply appeared as herself; we were satisfied that Ms Kelly presents a persona of herself,’ Judge Dean said.

‘We should make clear we do not doubt that Ms Kelly is an entertaining lady, but the point is that for the time Ms Kelly is contracted to perform live on air she is public “Lorraine Kelly”,’ they added.

‘She may not like the guest she interviews, she may not like the food she eats, she may not like the film she viewed but that is where the performance lies.’
