 EILISH O'Carroll has had an impressive career in the Irish entertainment industry - and she's gearing up for a new challenge this year.


The Mrs Brown's Boys star, sister of funnyman Brendan O'Carroll, will compete in the 2019 series of Dancing With The Stars.

The 66-year-old's appearance on the hit show was first revealed by the Irish Sun. She will dance with pro dancer Ryan McShane.

Eilish boasts an impressive CV as an actress, writer and singer as well as her role in Mrs Brown's Boys.

What age is Eilish O'Carroll?

Eilish O'Carroll was born on November 5 1952 - making her 66-years-old.

Where is she from?

The TV star was born and raised in Dublin. She is the second youngest in a family of ten to parents Maureen and Gerard O'Carroll. Eilish and Brendan's mum Maureen was the first female Labour TD.

The family lived in Stoneybatter on Dublin's northside.

What has Eilish done in the entertainment industry?

In her early teens, Eilish sang and played in a band called The Pentagon which would be her introduction to the world of showbiz.

After she married, Elish joined the Windlesham Drama Group and played in numerous roles over the years.

In 1997 she began working with older brother Brendan and took to the stage in 1999 in the very first of the Mrs Brown's Boys live plays.

Over a 17-year span and three separate series, she has gone on to star in the hit show as Winnie McGoogan - Agnes Brown's best friend.

Eilish also starred in Mrs Brown D Movie as well as the films Snap, Sparrow's Trap and Noreen.

Is Eilish O'Carroll married?

In 1971, Eilish married and had two sons, named Stuart and Lee. She separated from the boys' dad after eight years and remarried before falling in love with a woman.

The relationship didn't last and Eilish told the Irish Independent: "I wanted to run away and hide, so I moved to West Cork."

She came out as gay in her 40s.

She later met partner Marian O'Sullivan at a support group for lesbians over 40 - run by LINC - Lesbians in Cork.

Eilish revealed: "She is such a sweetheart, and is one of life's treasures, and there are no sides to her. Her sense of humour blew me away too, and we laughed a lot in the beginning and still do."

Marian worked on the Mrs Brown's Boys tour selling merchandise, before taking the job as stage manager.

What has Eilish said about Dancing With The Stars?

She revealed her nerves and excitement ahead of the hit RTE show, saying: "I feel like a kid at Christmas time, I've got everything I asked for, but on the other hand I'm terrified of opening that present."

Brendan O’Carroll’s sister said she didn’t think she’d get “past first base” when it came to getting on the show but is delighted TV bosses chose her to compete, adding: “I just love it, I love the glitz and the glamour. But I never thought it would be a reality.”
