Mrs Brown’s Boys Christmas and New Year’s specials: What you need to know



The BBC has released its Christmas Day schedule and one show of course featuring is Mrs Brown’s Boys.

The popular comedy series featuring Brendan O’Carroll as Agnes Brown is always a hit with BBC viewers on Christmas Day so it’s no surprise it’ll be back this 25 December.

As well as this, there’ll be a New Year’s special airing on 1 January 2019.

Mrs Brown’s Christmas and New Year’s specials: When are they on TV?



The Christmas special will air at 10.15pm on Christmas Day on BBC One.

The New Year’s special will air at 10pm on 1 January 2019 on BBC One.

Mrs Brown’s Christmas and New Year’s specials: What are they about?


The Christmas special is called “Exotic Mammy” and sees Agnes enter a Christmas decorating contest organised by Father Damian. We’ll also see Mrs Brown struggling to use a ‘wifi assistant’ given to her for Christmas.

The New Year’s special is called “Mammy’s Hotel” and follows Agnes putting up Winnie and Sharon at her house after their pipes burst.

Speaking about the plot, the BBC teased: “It’s not long before there’s a storm brewing in the Brown household too, when Agnes and Cathy discover living with best friends isn’t the picnic they’d imagined.”

Expect to see series regulars including O’Carroll, Jennifer Gibney (Cathy) and Paddy Houlihan (Dermot Brown) all returning to the festive specials.
