Brendan O’Carroll led the annual ward walk at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital on Friday.

The 63-year-old comedian was joined by wife Jenny, son Danny and their Mrs Brown’s Boys co-star Paddy Houlihan.

O’Carroll has been visiting the facility in Crumlin, Dublin, for the last 14 years.

He told the Irish Mirror: “For Jenny and me, it’s not just about the kids, it’s about the parents and staff as well. It gives them a lift. They’re going to be here over Christmas. It’s not easy in a hospital.

While the star splits his time between Florida and Ireland, he will be spending the festive season at home in Dublin.

He said: “We’re very traditional. We have all the family over for Christmas tea and then we watch the Christmas special. It’s very funny. Watch out for the Christmas tree, that’s all I’ll say.”

Speaking ahead of a carol service yesterday, RTE’s Blathnaid Treacy said: “You feel so lucky and fortunate because these tiny little kids are stuck in hospital for Christmas.

“It’s nice to just add a little bit of sparkle to the day.”

Coronas frontman Danny O’Reilly revealed he jumped at the chance to help out.

The 33-year-old said: “They do amazing work so I’m delighted to say hello.”

They were joined on the walk by Keith Barry, Lorraine Keane and Gavin Duffy.

Hospital chief Lisa-Nicole Dunne revealed around 11,000 youngsters would be in need of their help this month.

She added: “The staff are amazing, working around the clock to make sure the children have as good a Christmas as possible.”
