Mrs. Brown's Boys star Brendan O'Carroll is getting a new show on BBC One

The BBC has an unparalleled roster of iconic comedy panel show hosts, from Would I Lie to You?'s Rob Brydon to Mock the Week's Dara Ó Briain to A Question of Sport's Sue Barker.

Now, a feckin' titan of TV comedy joins that esteemed pantheon — that's right, Mrs Brown is getting her own panel show. Or, at least, her creator Brendan O'Carroll is!

O'Carroll will be leaving mammy's wig at home when he endeavours to discover the strange truths of the universe with his new BBC One series For Facts Sake. (See what they did there?)

In each episode, the comedian will be joined by a rotating group of Mrs. Brown's Boys cast members, and a studio audience, as they quiz one another about which bizarre 'facts' are strange enough to be true.

"I'm really excited to be doing a show where I don't have to wear a bra," O'Carroll joked today (February 22). "When we did the pilot it was great fun, if we can capture that on the screen we are all in for a good time."

BBC One Controller Charlotte Moore announced For Facts Sake with a promise that Brendan O'Carroll will bring his "inimitable warmth and wit" to the comedy panel show format.

For Facts Sake, which will air on BBC One later in the year, is one of several projects that expand the Mrs. Brown's Boys franchise beyond the traditional studio sitcom format.

The Irish mammy was originally created for a radio play, and later was adapted by Brendan O'Carroll for a series of stage plays, a movie and, more recently, the BBC One variety series All Round to Mrs. Brown's.

O'Carroll has also started working to turn Mrs. Brown's Boys into a stage musical that he's hoping to tour across the UK beginning in 2019. Sounds like a feckin' lot of work to us!
